Encouragement

Sometimes we just need a shot of encouragement along the way

PIONEER MOMS

I have a message specifically for YOU. I love history and ponder what it would be like to be in other people’s shoes. I think about Pearl Harbor and what that must have been like to wake up to the instant chaos of the bombings. Or the pioneer families who braved the west fighting the wilderness. Or the women who knew their husbands were on the ground during 911. We learn the facts of history but do not often hear the stories.

Pioneer – a person who is among the first to explore or settle in a new country or area.

Precious pioneer moms, you have just walked through our future’s history. The year 2020 will be recorded in our children’s children’s history books, and you were the woman who endured, fought fear, and cared for her family in the midst. I see the sweat on your brow, matted hair, and dusty clothes, but you DID IT! You pioneered in new territory. As a spiritual mom, mentor, and leader, I bless you in the name of Jesus for the grace and call on your life for such a time as this. God knew the day you were knit together in your mother’s womb that you would be alive today for this hour. Everything you have endured and walked through was part of your training ground for this season. You have walked through something no other person in history has EVER endured – not ever. You have plowed new ground and are still standing.

I want you to stop for a moment today and ponder how challenging this past season has been for you, specifically as a mother. It has required something of you that demanded you to dig deep and find your footing in the midst of gale-force winds and turbulent waters. Yet, you did it. You are still in the game. The favor of God is upon you, and many of you can say your family is stronger, more solid, and more deeply connected than ever before. Put your hand on your heart and repeat these words “(NAME), I bless you. I see how hard it has been for you as a mother in this season, but you did it, and I am so proud of you.” Ask, “Jesus, will You please show me what You see when You look at me?”

PARENT COACHING

This is a wild season for us, yet God is in the midst of using it for our good. He is allowing things to be seen, healed, and aligned, which is breathtaking. Only God can use this profound season of lack, isolation, and stillness and use it for our greatest transformation. We don’t have to make anything happen; we need to let Him do what He does best – finish the good work He has already begun in each of us.

I have received so many messages from parents who are feeling Him highlight areas that need to come into alignment. If you would like additional help in this season with parent triggers, parenting your child well, or resolving conflict, you can either private message me or schedule an appointment here: Coaching – Let the Children Fly

PARENTING TOOLS

Parents, you are not powerless to help your child! You might need some additional tools, but you are not powerless. Nothing is wrong with you that your child is screaming out for help. Let’s get you some more tools so that you can go after these issues in childhood.

I DECLARE

I left my four-month-old twins at home and put my newly pregnant self together for my first moms night out in nearly a year. I was excited to join my mom’s group for a night of carefree laughs. Everything was going great until halfway through our meal when one mom mentioned co-sleeping. Nearly every single mom believed in co-sleeping, and the comments were becoming the law vs. an option. Things were being said like, “If you don’t co-sleep, you are harming their emotional well-being,” and “I feel sorry for the kids whose parents are too selfish to share their bed.” I couldn’t get out of there fast enough. I felt shame, judged, and inadequate as a new mother. It did not take long for MY reality to sink back in. I had two four-month-old babies, a husband who woke up at 4:00 AM for work, I was pregnant again with a growing belly, and we had a queen-sized bed. NO! Co-sleeping was not for us. I had to intentionally draw a line in the sand, push back their ‘wisdom,’ and be at peace with what was best for our family. I wished that painful experience with my peers was a rare moment, but I have found in parenting that this is a normal occurrence.

Picture a dad injecting his son with a shot every morning. When asked WHY he was doing it, he replied, “Oh, I was at the hospital the other day. I noticed other parents doing it, so I wanted to be a good dad and give it to my son too.” How absurd, right? What keeps one child alive would actually harm another. We have got to get a hold of this in our parenting in order to parent with their Creator and what He is doing in their lives. No two families are a cookie-cutter of God’s design. We are all unique expressions of what He is doing on earth. The mom raising a missionary does not have the same job as the mom raising the next President of the United States of America. We are all bringing children up in the way they should go according to His plan and the assignment He has for them. We need to break the agreement that our families should fit in, look like everyone else, and the pressure to mold them according to someone else’s expectations.

I encourage you to pray this out loud, “Jesus, I confess that I have attempted to shape my child into someone else’s image. I ask for Your forgiveness for having my eyes on the fear and pressure of man instead of You. Do You forgive me?” Make sure you are not just asking for forgiveness but receiving it too. Make these declarations out loud over yourself:

I DECLARE I am more than enough for my family.

I DECLARE I do not need to parent like anyone else.

I DECLARE my child does not need to conform to anyone else’s box.

I DECLARE God knows what He is doing with my child.

I DECLARE I will always know what to do because Christ lives inside of me. I DECLARE partnering with God in my parenting is the best way to raise my child.

CELEBRATING YOU

I know this post is going to speak to a lot of you! Do you look at other people’s posts about their birthdays and long to feel that way on your special day? Yet when your day comes around, you still feel empty and sad at the end of the day? I felt that way for years and finally gave up on hope. I noticed I began to ignore it and intentionally not make a big deal out of it anymore. I hid my date on social media and pretended like it was no big deal. It wasn’t that it wasn’t important to me. It was that I didn’t want to set myself up for feeling disappointed again. BUT GOD… He took me on this incredible journey, and I experienced breakthrough on such a foundational level. Soon my birthday was approaching, and I found myself responding differently. I was giddy with excitement, had childlike joy over celebrating the day I was created and wanted to pull close those I love the most to celebrate with me. I want to walk you through what God showed me and ultimately brought one of my biggest breakthroughs in being seen, heard, and valued. Join me as we take a 10-day online adventure!  YOU are so worth celebrating!!!

VINE AND THE BRANCH

I was talking to a friend about an area in my life that is causing a lot of stress and worry. She brought me to John 15’s story about the vine and the branch, which gives us the key to bearing fruit (which I was not having in this area). Together, we asked Jesus to show us the separation, and I heard “tourniquet,” a device that cuts off the blood flow. Hmmm. That is kind of what it felt like. I asked Jesus what the key to removing the tourniquet was, and I kept hearing “turn, turn, turn, turn,” but it sounded like the word tourniquet was stuck on a broken record, and it didn’t make sense to me at first. I asked Jesus to clarify, and He said, “You keep turning and turning and turning, and the more you move, the more it is cutting off the life-giving flow between us. Stop moving and REMAIN in me.”

The Vine and the Branches – John 15:1-8 – “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.”

Sometimes the best thing to do is to do nothing and hand over the reins back to Him.

KNOW THE SEASON

Every child of God should be asking this question right now. “Jesus, what season am I in?” If you do not know your season, you will work against the natural flow of God. You will be burned out, worst yet, taken out. This is a time to be awakened to YOUR season in this hour. For some, it will be silence; for others, it will be using their voice. Some will enter rest, while others will tap into the endurance He built in the previous season. Others will be in a season of healing, while some will be ministers. Some are to post; others are to shut down social media. Some will be on the front lines; others will be unseen.

Seasons build upon seasons. You can’t have a harvest time without a planting season. You cannot enjoy the fruit if you haven’t plowed. All seasons are vital. Your role in this season is important, but you must know the season YOU are in so that you can be the fullest version of yourself. “Jesus, what season am I in?”

INCREASE HUNGER

I tell people often, “Do you pray to be filled by God? Pray for hunger because people that are full become content and lazy. Hungry people will do whatever it takes to be fed.”
