ASK LISA – WHO CAN RELATE?

How often I carry the guilt of reacting to my daughter in a selfish way, realizing how much better I need to parent. Having confidence in God’s plan and how much bigger that is than my mistakes is so freeing, despite my inability to be perfect.

How often I carry the guilt of reacting to my daughter in a selfish way, realizing how much better I need to parent. Having confidence in God’s plan and how much bigger that is than my mistakes is so freeing, despite my inability to be perfect.

In this, I hear shame, failure, behavior modification, and a focus on her daughter over her own heart.

My response to her: This is what I burn for – it isn’t about your mistakes or failures. It is about those places IN YOU that your daughter touches BY GOD’S DESIGN and wanting to parent and minister to you in that place so that you don’t need to have unhealthy reactions. When we know who we are, we can receive His love for us and allow Him to heal those tender places in us. We will automatically respond differently. God is not into behavior modification. He sent His Son so we could be free and free indeed.
